Season tickets for checkout

Mailattaret

  • Two season tickets to the Ykköspesis regular season games and semifinal home games of the women’s Finnish baseball team Vaasan Mailattaret.
  • The season tickets have no assigned seats, the seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, with safe distances between the seats.
  • Each ticket comes in a ticket holder with hanging strap.
  • The replacement fee for a ticket is 75 euros.

General rules

  • The tickets are available for checkout at the main library and Variska library.
  • You must return the ticket to the library where you borrowed it.
  • Loan period: one week.
  • The loan cannot be renewed.
  • Tickets cannot be reserved.
  • To check ticket availability, search “kausikortti” in the library catalogue.
  • You can have only one ticket on loan at a time.
  • The main library lobby has printed copies of the tickets that are available for checkout. Exchange the copy for the actual ticket at the first floor information desk. Variska library: ask for the season tickets at the information desk.
  • You cannot borrow a ticket again on a same day after returning it.
  • Late fee: 0.20 euros/day. The library will send you an overdue notice immediately after the due date.
  • If you do not return the ticket within three days of the due date, the ticket will be deactivated and it will no longer be valid. You will be charged the replacement fee of the ticket.

Sports equipment

A variety of sports equipment is available for checkout at the main library, Palosaari library, and at Meeting point Huudi.

To check the availability of the equipment, search the library catalogue using the keyword ”liikuntavälineet”.

The loan period for the equipment is 2 weeks.

Gym games bags

Gym games bags are available in every library.

The loan period is two weeks.

The bags contain:

  • skipping ropes of different lengths for single skipping and group skipping
  • a guide (booklet) to skipping games and skills, in Finnish
  • exercise cards with easy partner acrobatic moves
  • a guide (booklet) to family exercise, in Finnish
  • a gymnastics passport for schools, with basic gymnastic moves

Terms and conditions for sports and exercise equipment checkout

Sports and exercise equipment is available for checkout from the main library and from Vähäkyrö library during staffed hours. The equipment checkout is provided in cooperation with Vaasa city sports services.

BORROWING

Borrowing sports and exercise equipment is free of charge, but the borrower must have a valid Vaasa city library card. The loan period for the equipment is two weeks. The loan period ends at closing time on the due date. Equipment may be reserved and equipment loans renewed.

Sports and exercise equipment may not be returned in a book drop. In Vähäkyrö and Sundom libraries and in meeting point Huudi, equipment may only be returned during staffed hours.

OVERDUE FEES

An overdue fee will be charged for equipment returned or renewed after the due date. An overdue fee will be charged even if the online renewal of a loan fails due to maintenance work or other technical problems. A fee will also be charged for overdue notices and for debt collection. The Culture and Sports Board sets the overdue fees.

The borrower will be charged for lost or damaged equipment according to the current replacement cost list.

USING THE EQUIPMENT

The borrower must handle the sports and exercise equipment with care to avoid damage. The library is not responsible for any damage caused to the borrower by the equipment. When necessary, the equipment must be cleaned before it is returned to the library. All equipment comes with user manuals.

Bikes

The main library and the Vähäkyrö self-service library have bikes and helmets available for checkout from May through September.

In the main library, the bikes are located in the bike stand outside the Draama hall, and you can borrow them with your library card at the first floor information desk. By the end of the loan period, return the bike to the bike stand and the bike key to the information desk. In the Vähäkyrö self-service library, you can borrow and return a bike during staffed hours, on Fridays by 15:00 at the latest.

You can borrow a bike for up to one week at a time.

  • The main library has three bikes and the Vähäkyrö self-service library one bike available for checkout.
  • All bikes are 3-speed city bikes.
  • Each bike comes with a helmet.
  • The bikes can be reserved in advance.

Terms and conditions for borrowing a bike

General

You must be at least 15 to borrow a bike and you must agree to the terms and conditions for borrowing a bike. If you are under 15, you must have a parent or a guardian with you to borrow a bike. The bike will be checked out with your parent’s library card.

Borrow the bike with your library card at the first floor information desk in the main library, or in the Vähäkyrö self-service library during staffed hours. The loan period for the bikes is one week. Each bike comes with a helmet.

Borrower responsibility

You are responsible for any injuries or damages to yourself or to any other person.

You are liable for any damage to the bike and for the replacement cost for missing parts. You are not responsible for damage caused by normal use, for example puncture.

You must ensure that the bike is in proper working order before use. You are responsible for pumping the tyres (the library info has a bike pump available for use) and for adjusting the bike seat.

You are responsible for the bike and the helmet until you return them to the library.

You are responsible for the bike key and must not give it to anyone else. Never leave the bike unlocked. Always store the bike in a secure location overnight.

You must agree to the Terms and conditions for borrowing a bike. By checking out a bike from the library, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to these terms and conditions. Retuning a bike

The late fee for overdue bikes is 10 € per day but not exceeding 70 €. Reminder fees and invoicing fees are the same as with other library materials. The borrower’s deductible in the event of damage is the cost of the damage, but not exceeding 600 €. The maximum fee applies to irreparable damage, theft, and to lost or unreturned bike.

Equipment, tools

The loan period for tools and equipment is two weeks. You can reserve tools and equipment and choose from which Vaasa city library location you would like to pick up your reservation.

Return the tools and equipment to a library circulation desk. Do not use a book drop or a self-return machine.

Borrower responsibilities:

  • You are responsible for the tools and equipment checked out in your name.
  • Handle the tools and equipment carefully. You are liable for any damage to the tools and equipment caused by improper use.
  • The library is not responsible for any damage caused by the tools or equipment. Please report any faulty tools and equipment to the library staff.
  • Clean the tools and equipment before you return them to the library.
  • The library cannot provide additional instruction on the operation of tools and equipment. Please, refer to the user guides if you need help using the tools and equipment.

The tool and equipment collection is located in the main library lobby. The following tools and equipment are on display on the shelves when available for checkout:

  • A ukulele. A Gecko soprano ukulele with carry bag. Please inform the staff if you break a string on the ukulele. We will replace the broken string.
  • Two folding music stands. Quiklok MS-330NB. With carry bag.
  • Two litter pickers. Fiskars Solid. In a carry bag. A donation from the city of Vaasa parks department.
  • Sound level meter. Extech 407730. Measures from 40 to 130 dBs. With a bag and user manual.
  • Installation level. Ironside 102277.
  • Two energy meters. Axxel. 230 V AC 50 Hz, maximum load 3680 W/16 A, meter accuracy ± 1%, 2.0” LCD display. With a bag and user manual. A donation from Vaasan sähkö.
  • Two electricity usage monitors. Axxel. 230 V, 16 A, maximum load 3680 W/16 A, meter accuracy ± 2%, 1.5 m cord. With a bag and user manual. A donation from Vaasan sähkö.
  • Two 39-piece tool kits. 8 Allen keys, 3 m tape measure, 6" adjustable spanner, 4 precision screwdrivers, snipe-nose pliers, side cutter, hammer, utility knife, multi-bit screwdriver with 20 bits.
  • Staple gun. Rapid R23. For tacking fabric, canvas, leather, posters etc. Capacity 156 x 13/4, 6 and 8 mm staples. Note! Staples not included, you need to buy them yourself. Staple remover. Rapid R3. Removes almost any staple.

The following tools and equipment are not on display in the lobby, but you will find printed pictures of them on the shelves, when they are available for checkout. Exchange the printed picture for the actual tool or piece of equipment at the first floor information desk in the main library:

  • Impact Drill. Makita HP1641FJ, 680 W. Dual purpose for "Rotation only" and "Rotation with hammering". Max. 30 mm (in wood), 16 mm (in masonry), 13 mm (in steel). With side handle and depth stop. With carry case and two leaflets. Note! Drill bits are not included, you need to buy them yourself.
  • Moisture meter. Prof. With ball probe, bag and user manual.
  • Wall scanner. Bosch GMS 120. With bag and five leaflets.
  • Two programmable robots of the model Scribbler S3. Donated by the VAMK University of Applied Sciences. Can be programmed to move around, navigate, avoid obstacles, draw with a pen, and play a tune. You do not have to know a lot about coding to use the Scribbler S3. Access the visual programming tool BlocklyProp online and visit the English user's guide by scanning the QR code or by using the URL printed on the side of the robot.   • Thermo detector. Bosch PTD 1. With bag and three leaflets.
  • Two blood pressure monitors. Omron M2. With bag and five leaflets.
  • Infrared thermometer. Tarmo. Measuring range -50 – 300 C. With bag and two leaflets.
  • Battery charger. CTEK MXS 3.8, 12V/3.8A. For all types of 12 V lead-acid batteries from 1.2Ah up to 80Ah. Connect clamps and connect eyelets included.
